Product description

The name IABG is closely linked with the space sector. In our space centre we offer comprehensive one-stop tests, analyses and studies. Hardly any larger German or European aeronautics or space project in the last decades was realised without the support of IABG.

Experience of many years and the adaptability of our facilities make us an ideal partner for challenging environmental tests.

Our services:
  • Mechanical tests (vibration, acoustic noise, shock, modal, mass property measurements)
  • Space simulation tests (incl. bake-out and distortion measurements)
  • Measurement, calibration and qualification of electro-optical systems
  • Electromagnetic tests
  • Infrastructure services
  • Engineering support
  • Management and programme consulting
  • Certifications and accreditations

We meet highest quality requirements. Our staff’s flexibility and technological competence as well as our technical and organizational reliability form the basis of our sustained success.

For many years IABG has also operated the environmental test facilities in ESA’s ESTEC research centre together with a European partner. For this purpose the daughter company ”European Test Services “(ETS) was created in the Netherlands.

Originally, our services were developed for the space sector. Today, a number of other industries  such as the electronic, automotive, defence and aviation industry  use our technological lead in product qualification.

We advise our customers on test setup and test planning as well as on the selection and sequence of specifications. We support them in the analysis and interpretation of test and measurement results and help solving problems. Before a satellite starts its journey into space it needs to pass a number of demanding tests: In the acoustic laboratory and in our vibration and shock facilities we simulate the loads that occur during the launch of a rocket. In a space simulation chamber the vacuum, temperatures and solar radiation of space are simulated, and even satellite movements relative to the sun. We also test the functioning of scientific equipment under the influence of strong magnetic fields by using a test facility which is unique in Europe, our magnetic field simulation facility (MFSA). In the last 50 years we have tested several hundreds of satellites and large components altogether at IABG.

In recent projects, for example, we successfully performed qualification tests on the satellites EDRS-C, Solar Orbiter and Sentinel 6, as well as dynamic characterisation tests on the Vulcain®2.1 engine of the Ariane 6.
