Berkant Göksel holds a diploma in aerospace engineering from Technical University Berlin and is currently managing Electrofluidsystems with its Future Workshop located at the Department of Bionics & Evolutiontechnique, TU Berlin. Mr. Goeksel works on experimental plasma aerodynamics since 1998 and belongs to the European pioneers in first demonstrating plasma assisted separation flow control on 2D airfoils and 3D wings. From 2000-2003, Mr. Goeksel was project engineer in the future projects division of Rolls-Royce Germany and from 2004-2005 project manager at TU Berlin where he is still faculty member as postgraduate student. From 2005 to 2006, Mr. Goeksel was project manager for electrofluid systems at FESTO and managed two scientific and technical world premiers. He was responsible for the development of the world’s first plasma propelled airships with 7.5m and 4.5m length. The 7.5m b-IONIC Airfish had its first flight in September 2005. The second ionic airship was released in 2008. Since 2010, Mr. Goeksel is developing the third generation of plasma hybrid airships. The first public flight demonstration will be presented at the Hannover Industrial Exhibition 2017. At ILA2014 Mr. Goeksel presented details of the world’s first plasma controlled flying wing. The first pre-serial prototype structures of the Plasma Flyer will be shown at the Berlin Air Show ILA2016.
